Current Events

The following news stories made up the current events portion of each class:

  • Prime Minister Harper, President Bush and Mexican President Calderone are meeting in Louisianan.
  • Conservative Party attempted to privately release RCMP warrant and election spending documents.
  • The Federal government will spend $3.1billion to upgrade Frigates at shipyards in Halifax and Victoria.
  • Body of missing student found after six weeks in Rideau River on the weekend.
  • Former US President Jimmy Carter met with Hamas and Syria, saying both are ready to accept Israel.
  • Pope returned to Rome following six day trip to US, met by expected new mayor
  • Astin Martin crashes into lake on the way to set of the new James Bond movie

Period One: History 30

Class completed current events and the comprehensive review ahead of tomorrow’s exam.

Period Two: History 20

Unit Two exam was written.

Period Four: History 30

Class completed current events and the comprehensive review ahead of tomorrow’s exam.

Period Five: History 10

Class watched and discussed the days current events.

Notes were taken on Classical 19th Century Conservatism and the influence of Edmund Burke. The central ideas of conservatism were presented as was the champion of conservatism on the continent of Europe Clemens von Metternich.

Time was given to complete the Cause and Effect Chart of the Reform Bill of 1832, see April 17th. The chart is to be completed for Tuesday’s class when it will either be handed in or taken up.
