Current Events
The following stories made up the current events portion of today’s classes:
- Death toll from Burmese Cyclone reaches 22,000 people. 41,000 remain missing and hundreds of thousands are homeless.
- Obama and Clinton face off in Indiana, where Clinton has a slight lead, and North Carolina where Obama leads, in today’s Democratic primaries.
- Interpol has publicaly released a picture of a wanted pedophile from Norwegian police. He is wanted for sexual abuse of young boys in south east Asia. The abuser is a 40 to 50 year old white male.
- Oil has hit a new high at $120 /barrel US. It closed at $121.30 at the close of trade. Blamed on US economic problems and production problems in Iran, Iraq and Nigeria.
- Ryan Reynolds is engaged to Scarlett Johansson. Reynolds had earlier been engaged to singer Alanis Morissette before breaking off the engagement.
Period One: History 30
Following current events the class took up the last unit exam before heading to the computer lab to complete their assignment on Canada’s Women’s Movement in the 1920s and 1930s.
Period Two: History 20
Following current events the class returned to the computer lab to work on their World War Two Profile assignment. The assignment is due on Monday, April 12.
Period Four: History 30
Following current events the class reviewed the Unit Two exam. The class then moved to the computer lab and completed the Canadian Women in the 1920s and 1930s assignment.
Period Five: History 10
Following current events there was a homework check on the first page of the Congress of Vienna jigsaw. The following students had not completed the homework: Chris B., Rachel D., Renee L., Stephanie L., Jordan D., Anthony B..
The Class was then divided into expert groups to compare, exchange and create the best answers before being split into heterogenous groups to complete the activity by sharing their information with the rest of their group members. There will be a jigsaw review quiz on Thursday, May 8.
